I have a Cannondale Super V and want to upgrade everything. Help?
I want to upgrade to disc brakes so I need a new fork. I found a Cannondale Super Fatty Ultra Headshok with lock out off 2006 1FG Ultra. Will this fit? Also I want to upgrade the rear Fox shock. Will any rear shock fit? are they all standard? I want to build two bikes because I have two of the same frame. First a light version of a downhill bike so I can use it on basic trails and getting around town as well. Second a true downhill.
Has anyone owned a Cannondale with a "headshock" ? Anyone that has had a bike with the headshock, please share your experience and knowledge about it. Some of my main concerns/ questions are How often does the headshock have to be tuned or fixed or adjusted, etc and what are the advantages and disadvantages of the headshock?
I can give you some insight from a mechanics view...
The Headshock works OK for ATB type riding- for terrain that doesn't exceed light rain ruts and baby-head sized rocks. More extreme terrain and you'll beat it into pieces.
Service is difficult and expensive, and requires dedicated tools to perform. It can get VERY expensive when you exceed the maintenance cycles recommended by Cdale since some of the parts in it will become useless. However, for the typical rider wanting to keep the front wheel on a light trail the maintenance cycle is longer than a common suspension fork, so you pays yer money and you takes yer lumps.
If I were someone considering suspension right now, I would shy away from the Headshock for now. Cannondale was just purchased by Pacific Cycles, knowing their penchant for dropping money losing things I'd be worried that parts might become difficult to get... but this is strictly conjecture on my part.
Keep in mind that suspension is to keep the wheels on the ground for better handling and not necessarily for comfort.

hi, i'm thinking of getting my bike resprayed but i don't know how easy or hard it is to seperate the headshok from the fork, so i can then get the forks resprayed and baked. anyone help!
One thing aluminium is susceptible to is salty water, so once the gritters are out, bare aluminium may not be the best idea.
I've attached a link to Cannondale's technical publications. This may help you to decide if it's a job you want to tackle yourself, or get help from a bike shop.

A good light weight wheel set for a Cannondale Lefty?
Hello. I have a Cannondale Prophet w/ the lefty fork and my question is about tires. It currently has Maxxis tubeless Highrollers and mavic Xm Rims but this set up seems better for down hilling, meaning its heavy and somewhat sluggish as I do trails, single track and the like. Any ideas of a lighter weight rim/tire combo for this unique lefty fork? Tube or tubeless....it matters none to me....Thanks !

What do I need to convert my Cannondale Headshok to a traditional fork?
I would like to install a Rock Shox Dart 3 or a Tora, I understand I need a reducer. What very specifically do I need? Will both forks work with my setup? Is there something else I should look at? I don't want to rebuild my headshok, it sucks! I have a f700 with cantilever brakes. Thanks!
Try this out, for older cannondales with the bigger head tube this will work:
