how fast can you get?

currently i have a cannondale system six 3 with mavic aksium wheels and full ultegra minus the dura ace rear derailleur. i was thinking to maybe upgrading to the new campy record with the 11 speed. i am getting new fsa k wing carbon handle bars and a fsa alloy carbon glossed stem. my average speed right now on a good day is prolly 21 mph. how much faster would i be in mph if i were to ugrade to all these parts? do wheels really make a speed difference? i was thinking about fulcrum racing zeros since the r sys have rumors of breaking carbon spokes. if i were to upgrade to campy, do handles bars and stem, plus the wheels, how much speed should i gain?

Tom is right major poser points. However your top speed and average speed will not change much, where you will see a difference is in sprints, the less rotating mass you have the faster you can accelerate.

Which full suspension XC mountain bike should I upgrade to?

I have been mountain biking for 3 1/2 years and my first serious bike, an 05 fuji outland pro, has worked great. However, it is a hardtail and I am now looking to upgrade to a full suspension bike. I really like the handling and weight of xc bikes and the smaller amount of travel they offer doesn't concern me: 100mm suspension front and rear should be plenty. The choices I have narrowed it down to are:
07 fuji outland pro
08 cannondale rush5z
08 specialized fsrxc pro or expert
08 fezzari alta peak
These are in descending order of price, and I was wondering which one has the best components, the best frame, the best suspension, and what would you recommend as the overall best deal/bike? I'm also open to suggestions of other bikes.

Full susp bikes compromise on their weight, their heavier that hardtails, but with added comfort especially on rocky, uneven trails.

Go for those reliable and good brands/models like the Giant Maestro series - Glory and Anthem, Kona Hei Hei and Four Deluxe, Scott Spark and Ransom, Cannondale's Scalpel and Prophet, the Specialized S-works Safirenand Enduro, and many more. Depending on your budget and "riding" lifestyle and strategy, but i think you get the picture. Go out and try those bikes!

For components, get a bike with Shimano Deore, XT, and their top end, the XTR lines of derailleurs and crankset. You wont be disappointed. Sram are more expensive but equally good with Shimano, if not better. Of course, get the hydraulic brakes from Hayes, Avid, Shimano, and other brands.

Campagnolo Wheel Set Comparison.?

I recently upgraded my bike to Camoagnolo Record 10 Speed. I have a Cannondale System Six. I need Clinchers and aluminum rims. These will be the wheels that i ride on the weekends with buddies and put many many miles on. I've been looking at fulcrum racing zero's and looking at the campagnolo shamal ultra clinchers. I've ridden the racing zero's before and they are crazy awesome stiff. will shamal's be just as stiff? Is there any recomendations on other aluminum Wheelsets out there? How many grams can i shave off? Help?

The Shamal is very similar to the Fulcrum wheel except for a slightly different spoke pattern. Both wheelsets use the same rim and the hubs are virtually the same. For 2009 both come in Campagnolo's two way fit system meaning that they are compatible with road tubeless tires as well as regular clinchers. The Shamals feel the same as the Fulcrums as far as stiffness goes, the differences are mostly cosmetic. If you like the Fulcrums, they are available in a campy compatible version, parts are readily available since the wheel is also built by Campagnolo.

How tight should the headset bolt be?

My headset on my Cannondale R800 was making a clicking noise under pressure but once I loosened it the clicking went away. How tight should it be? Right now its only snug, if I go any tighter it makes the clicking again....

It should be just snug enough to avoid play in the headset. It is really more of an art than a science, and you have to get a feel for it.

You need to loosen the bolts that attach the stem, and then start to tighten the bolt on top until there is no play between the fork and the head tube. It actually does not need to be very tight at all. If it it over tightened it will damage the headset and possibly the bike frame. Once you get that bold dialed in just right, go ahead and tighten the bolts on the stem.

Make sure all the bolts on the headset and stem are well greased.

Cannondale F400: Nice bike?

I just inherited a Cannondale F400. I've never owned a mountain bike before, only cheapo street bikes for knocking around town, etc. I'm curious as to whether this is a highly regarded bike, and what special considerations I should apply to it. For example: I've never had a bike with front fork suspension. I'm very much looking forward to begin riding this handsome bike. Appreciate all input.
