Saeco Cannondale
Zipp 404 wheel. Cosmetic question.?
I'm putting a bike on eBay that has 2004 non-dimpled 404 clinchers with the stickers removed. It looks okay but I like the look with stickers better. Am I in the minority?
The bike is a 2005 Cannondale Six 13 with the red Saeco paint job so it's already a bit flashy.
So, do you believe the bike would be more attractive with or without the wheel stickers?
I know a lot of people who will take ALL the stickers off their bike. Some do so because they feel it's a "cleaner" look, and others, because they believe it makes their bike less attractive to bike theives.
I think both trains of thought have merit, but personally prefer the stickers--especially on the Zipp 404s, and especially in terms of resale value on e-bay.
Having a Zipp 404 wheelset carries a certain "snob appeal"--there is no denying it is THE wheelset most coveted. People don't just buy them for the competitive racing advantage, but to make a "status statement"--but you can only make that statement if other people KNOW they're 404s you're riding!
So before you put the bike on e-bay, I'd recommend you go buy a set of replacement stickers. I think you'll get a higher price for the bike, and find the cost/benefit of the stickers will be well worth it.
