Cannondale Lefty Speed

Help me choose a Cannondale- Juicy vs. Hope, Lefty vs. Fatty.?

Learned folks,
I have been looking at two used Cannondale Caffeine bikes for over three weeks in order to buy myself a Christmas present. I’d buy either one, but because there are two, I can’t decide and pull the trigger. Both are in good condition with a Caffeine frame. It comes down to Juicy vs. Hope, Lefty vs. Fatty, and 100 bucks. Which would you choose and why?
Here are the specs of first bike/second bike
Frame: Caffeine F1/Caffeine F3
Breaks: Juicy 5/Hope Mini
Shock:Lefty Speed/Fatty
Tires:Hutchinson Pirhana/Mavic Crossfire
Gears:XT/XT
Shifters: XT/LX
The F1 costs 100 bucks more but has the following extras: Pedals, Computer, Air Pump

I've ridden them both- in a parking lot they feel the same (and for the most part, they are). I’m a grown man incapable of making up his mind and I’m ready to ride.

Avid kills Hope when it comes to brakes, not even debatable.
The Lefty is a much better fork... again, not even debatable.
XT beats LX... yet again, not even a debatable point.
Also, the F1 is a "higher end" model than the F3 in Cannondales lineup so that's why it's spec'd with better equipment like the Avid Juicy's and the Lefty fork, add in that it also has the computer and the pedals and it's definately worth the extra cash...

Also, to whomever posted that the tires are comparable in quality... Do you even realize that "Mavic Crossfire" refer to the the wheelset? Mavic doesnt make tires.?.? I think they spec'd Maxxis Crossmarks or Ridgelines on the Caffeines as OE...

Do I need a front fender for riding my commuter bike in the rain?

I am getting back into cycling to work after a 15 year hiatus and just bought a Cannondale hybrid. I live in the Pacific NW, so for now the days are perfect, but come September it will be dark and rainy for 9 months. I plan to tough it out, but can't decide: full front and rear fenders, or temporary, removable rear fender? I would like to avoid lousing up my beautiful bike with permanent full fenders if possible; will the front one really matter, or is a removable rear fender sufficient for the rain?

Get both, protection for you and your bike. You can get fenders that are very lite for the front and rear for cheap.
