No you didnt get ripped off on this one! You made a good deal unless the bike looks rough...? otherwise you have great components and I would recheck the specs on the front and rear derailleur as they must also be Ultegra or 105 at the least!

would it be better to upgrade the bike i have now?
the bike i have now is a 2005 trek 3900 i would be be putting the cheapest fox talas fork on it and would be getting hydralic disk brakes and putting a 9 speed cassete on it and maybe upgrading the deraliers,also i would get new handlebars,stem,seatpost,seat,and tires. the price would be about the same as the $1400 2007 cannondale rush 5 that i would get instead.
which do you think would be better and last longer
This is a tough one, but generally speaking if a bike is more than 4 years old, it does not pay to upgrade it vs. buying a new bike. Think about it- you nned/want to change a lot of things on this bike and when its all said and done it will still be a 5 year old bike (2005 models come out in 2004).
