how do i adjust the handlebars on a cannondale with a head shock?

the handlebars are too low for me to be comfortable and i would like to raise them but i do not want to affect the front shock. can i just raise them like on an old school bike by loosening the hex head fitting or is there more to it?

you cant. i ride a cannondale f900 that has the single front shock. you can buy a different stem that has a higher angle to it or just flip the one you have over. its real simple on mine it had a single allen key. i flipped mine for a while before buying a longer stem and one with a higher rise angle. they can be bought new for under a hundred. try craigslist and put an ad up in the bike section sincce people really dont try to sell them too much, but buying one new would be easier and you could return or get a warranty if somethings wrong with it(doesnt fit or you like it the other way)

What's The Best Mountain Bike or Road Bike For A Limited Budget?

I'm looking at buying either a Cannondale, Redline, or Trek mountain bike or road bike but I can't make up my mind. My budget is somewhere around 1000-1200. I like the look of the carbon bikes with suspension but they are quite expensive; I haven't ruled out buying used either. I'm leaning more towards a mtb but will probably be using it more on the road/paved bike trails. Some info on how to buy/purchase a bike or get the most for my money will be much appreciated.

If you are going to ride on pavement most of the time get a road or hybrid bike. You don't need shocks on paved surfaces so a fitness bike will also work. If you want to go fast and for long distances get a Trek 2.1 You can get a full cabon bike from Bikes Direct for about the same price.

No you didnt get ripped off on this one! You made a good deal unless the bike looks rough...? otherwise you have great components and I would recheck the specs on the front and rear derailleur as they must also be Ultegra or 105 at the least!

Help me choose a Cannondale- Juicy vs. Hope, Lefty vs. Fatty.?

Learned folks,
I have been looking at two used Cannondale Caffeine bikes for over three weeks in order to buy myself a Christmas present. I’d buy either one, but because there are two, I can’t decide and pull the trigger. Both are in good condition with a Caffeine frame. It comes down to Juicy vs. Hope, Lefty vs. Fatty, and 100 bucks. Which would you choose and why?
Here are the specs of first bike/second bike
Frame: Caffeine F1/Caffeine F3
Breaks: Juicy 5/Hope Mini
Shock:Lefty Speed/Fatty
Tires:Hutchinson Pirhana/Mavic Crossfire
Gears:XT/XT
Shifters: XT/LX
The F1 costs 100 bucks more but has the following extras: Pedals, Computer, Air Pump

Avid kills Hope when it comes to brakes, not even debatable.
The Lefty is a much better fork... again, not even debatable.
XT beats LX... yet again, not even a debatable point.
Also, the F1 is a "higher end" model than the F3 in Cannondales lineup so that's why it's spec'd with better equipment like the Avid Juicy's and the Lefty fork, add in that it also has the computer and the pedals and it's definately worth the extra cash...

Also, to whomever posted that the tires are comparable in quality... Do you even realize that "Mavic Crossfire" refer to the the wheelset? Mavic doesnt make tires.?.? I think they spec'd Maxxis Crossmarks or Ridgelines on the Caffeines as OE...
