currently i have a cannondale system six 3 with mavic aksium wheels and full ultegra minus the dura ace rear derailleur. i was thinking to maybe upgrading to the new campy record with the 11 speed. i am getting new fsa k wing carbon handle bars and a fsa alloy carbon glossed stem. my average speed right now on a good day is prolly 21 mph. how much faster would i be in mph if i were to ugrade to all these parts? do wheels really make a speed difference? i was thinking about fulcrum racing zeros since the r sys have rumors of breaking carbon spokes. if i were to upgrade to campy, do handles bars and stem, plus the wheels, how much speed should i gain?
Tom is right major poser points. However your top speed and average speed will not change much, where you will see a difference is in sprints, the less rotating mass you have the faster you can accelerate.

im looking to buy an older santa cruz juliana mtb frame. It has some scratches on it and also a very small dent on the rear triangle..is this an alright buy for a beginner fr/dh bike? note i am 5'3 and weigh 110 pounds so im looking for something light yet durable. I also was looking into the cannondale prophet 600..that is a bit heavier than the juliana though so if anyone has any info on this frame as well that would be very helpful

Hold on there......neither of those bikes are fr/dh rigs. The Prophet is suited for aggressive all-mountain riding, but the Juliana is an xc bike. If you huck either of those you're likely to tear them up pretty quickly, even though you don't weigh very much. They're both very nice bikes, however....just not suited for abuse even if it's fun abuse. lol
Depending on how old that Juliana frame is, you might want to be a bit wary of getting it. You need to know how the damage happened and how long the bike was ridden, etc. Buying used, you won't have any warranty on it and even though Santa Cruz is *excellent* when it comes to customer service and standing behind their bikes, they won't replace it if it fails since you aren't the original owner. So....if that bike has more than 4 seasons of hard riding, or if it was in a couple of bad crashes, you run the risk of a potential lemon. If it's just cosmetic and the dent isn't bad and/or near either end of the chainstay, then that's ok. You can always replace parts of the rear end, but that won't be very cost effective on a used frame. Replacing pivots/bearings won't be any trouble.

which one would you choose and why? from my understanding they are both around the same price. I want a bike that i can comfortably ride for about 30 miles. I have leaned more towards hybrid bikes rather than road bikes because i like the upright positioning of the body.
One of the big factors on riding any distance is comfort and fit. Test ride both of the bikes. Buy the one that fits you the best, where you feel you can sit on it for 2 to 2-1/2 hours at a time.
