Need an opinion on a Cannondale M300 Caad 1?

I found a Cannondale M300 Caad 1 woman's bike online for $200. They said its rarely used and comes with a new set of street tires and a set of knobby tires (please excuse me if my spelling on that was off!)

Anyways I am trying to get back into riding, its been probably 12 years since I was on a bike. I live in the mohave desert where there is a TON of sand. I will be doing a mix of off/on road riding, but nothing too intense mountain bike wise . . . yet.

I was wonder if:
1) this was a good price, the owner didnt say the year, but he did state it looks like new and has pretty much just sat there in his garage.

2) if this would be a good starter bike

I don't know much about this bike but looked it up. It appears to be a unsuspended entry level MTB. If it's in like new condition it's a good starter bike. This is a good step above a Wal Mart bike and @ $200 is a cheap way to get back into cycling. Unsuspended bikes are great for general riding and you can take it on mild MTB trails too.
